So yesterday on Instagram I innocently posted a photo of a last minute notebook I made for taking notes at BlogPodium Conference this weekend. I made the notebook because there is just no way in hell I am able to type notes on our tablet. I am an old school note taker.
Well the super talented Becky from Sketchy Styles wanted to know what I did. So Becky, this one is for you. Ask and you shall receive. By the way, Thank You Danielle for introducing me to Becky. She is awesome! And talk about font love, I am obsessed with her website font! That is aside from her amazing sketches and DIY projects of course.
Just for the record, I have almost no process shots of this because I totally wasn’t expecting to do a tutorial on it. Bad blogger I know. Always take a damn picture.
I used my favourite IKEA ANNBETH fabric and a $1 composition notebook. I measured out the amount of fabric I’d need to go around it and cut to size.
Then I sprayed the front of the fabric with my I love it but I hate it Elmer’s Adhesive Glue.
I love it because it helped me with projects like this. I hate it because it ruined projects like this epic Pinterest fail. There is no way this is a temporary glue. As a permanent glue it does way better.
Watch it prove me wrong on Saturday if my DIY business cards for the Conference fall apart. Knock on wood. Literally – they’re wood backed ones.
Then I just placed the notebook over the fabric and wrapped it around like you would a book cover and smoothed it out.
I took the inside pieces of fabric and used my glue gun to adhere them to the notebook and trimmed the corners.
For the middle, I just snipped a straight line and split the fabric around the paper.
Then I repeated the process with the smaller notebook, only with the smaller one I added white card stock over the pattern of the notebook as it was showing through the fabric.
And that is it.
Looking forward to meeting you Becky and so many other insanely talented blogging friends that I have been chatting with for ages now. Thank you for upping the anticipation on Twitter!
Most of all Thank You Jen for undertaking the event to get everyone together. It’s my first one so I can’t wait to experience and blog about it after.
The only question left is, what the fresh hell do I wear? Can someone please talk me out of wearing motorcycle boots.
