We are shamelessly a toy family. I don’t even try and hide it anymore. We go big and all out for Christmas. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s totally fine, but I swear to you my kids have done intervention’s when I attempt to donate any older toys. Our 7 year old daughter genuinely plays with *everything*and I also have toys from my childhood that I have personally kept, so they know that I can’t win this debate.
Plus I still remember when my mom donated all of my original Star Wars figurines. Yeah. Let that sink in. It’s not like they’re worth money or something now a days as a collectors item.
Without further ado these are our 7 year old’s Top Hasbro Toy picks.
1) DISNEY DESCENDANTS ISLE STYLE SWITCH MAL
Our daughter’s best friend Bella, went as Mal for Halloween this year. If you’re not familiar with the characters in The Descendants, you may be familiar with their parents – Snow White, Evil Queen, Maleficent. They’re the kids of your beloved Disney characters, both heroes and villains. Mal is the daughter of Maleficent and this doll is inspired by her different look in Descendants 2, where Mal transforms into a Lady of the Court (her Auradon look) and as well as her wicked ways ways Isle style look. I haven’t seen the movie but my girls loved it and this character was one of their favourites. You get one doll with two different looks!
2) STAR WARS FORCE LINK BB-8 2-IN-1 MEGA PLAYSET INCLUDING FORCE LINK
We may or may not have three BB8 dolls in this Star Wars addicted household. Needless to say I am not surprised she loved this playset. It’s a giant BB8 that transforms into a multi level playset with lights and sounds for your Star Wars characters. It’s Force Link activated, meaning you wear a wrist band that activates the sounds. I mean what? Where was this when I was a kid? I want one.
3) BABY ALIVE BETTER NOW BAILEY
We got this for our daughter last Christmas and as I write this she is planning to bring it to school tomorrow, so it can play during recess with her classmates Baby Alive dolls. Needless to say, one of her favourites and one of her friends favourite dolls. The fact that you get to change a real diaper (yes if you feed her a bottle, she will need a diaper change) is just the icing on the cake. No really.
4) STAR WARS BLADEBUILDERS PATH OF THE FORCE LIGHTSABER
I am noticing a theme here in our daughter’s evil to good toy selections and by evil to good I mean, toys that you can switch roles and play the “evil character” vs the “good character”. With this lightsaber, you go from Sith Lord to Jedi night complete with matching red or blue light effects! Explains why she wants it.
5) FURREAL CHATTY CHARLIE, THE BARKIN’ BEAGLE
We were out looking for Christmas decorations when she screamed with excitement seeing this in the toy aisle. If you have little ones at home, I don’t have to tell you how popular FurReal animals are. The puppy’s collar translates barks to phrases so you can understand him and he has ’80+ barks to phrases’ so he has a lot to talk about. He also responds to sound and touch, wiggles his ears and playfully wags his tail. Kids LOVE this toy. Love.
HONOURABLE MENTION – STAR WARS FIGURINES, THE BLACK SERIES
Any Star Wars figureines from The Black Series. Any. Darth Vader, Leia, Rey, Finn, Poe. If it’s on a shelf with the Star Wars logo, just put a bow on it. They’re 6″ tall with impeccable detail that any Star Wars family is sure to love.
Now what fun is it talking about toys we love if you can’t get a chance to bring one of them home?
