Skull Decor

I couldn’t tell you when or how this began but I can tell you we have an epidemic of skull decor going on in our home. I started glancing around one day and suddenly found myself counting how many pieces we had that either was a skull shape or had a skull on it.

Case in point.

Skull Salt and Pepper shakers from Target.

Skull Salt & Pepper

Skull pendants that I picked up at a flea market in New Orleans and turned into a necklace.

Doomed Skull shot glasses from Tapiture.

Skull dress from H&M kids. As seen in Today’s Parent Halloween costume ideas.

One of several – several – skull sweaters.

Skull Sweater Joe Fresh

One pair of who knows how many pairs of skull earrings.

And a newly purchased Skull Candle from Target.

No really, Target. On clearance no less. I know!

None of this includes our Halloween decorations. Skull ice cube trays. Or stickers in my daughters room. Or her shoes with skulls all over them. I won’t even get into her Monster High backpack and t-shirts and dolls.

Oh wait maybe that’s who I can blame this on. The invasion of Monster High in the house. Sadly no. I am pretty sure this goes back to my love of Victorian Gothic decor which started years ago when I was a teenager. My husband has also always had shirts with skulls on them.

And in some strange way this all somehow fits into our Scandinavian farmhouse in the suburbs decor we have going on.

Can you relate? If so, I want to hear from you.

What do you have an abundance of in your house? Skulls? Cats? Birdcages? Cowboy hats? Leopard print? Gold? Glitter? Cowboy hats with glitter?

Shot glasses – which we collect from every place we go on vacation! OH – and tribal masks. Jesus how my hubby is a sucker for a tribal mask. I’m not sure how those two fit together, but we have a ton of both! Should make for interesting decor options once the Dreamhouse is finished I guess..

I do love skulls- don’t have in our everyday decor but love those shot glasses. We have skulls quite prominent in our halloween decor. My favourites are a black feather wreath ala artofdoingstuff and a black rose & skull centrepiece ala eddie rose.

Gold has been growing on me and let me say that is a huge thing for me to say b/c I have always been a platinum and silver kind of decor person. You rarely will catch me for example wearing gold. But that skull sounds delicious.

Oh you know I love your skeleton at home but my heart still belongs to the Red Arrow and the custom bed Richie made. That was killer!

We’re seriously sisters from other misters. I also have an abundance of skulls permanently on display. And (hand on heart) I just finished showing husband a picture of a GIANT black skull I wants so bad and he is beyond supportive in my quest.

    Seriously. Sisters.

Woodland creatures. Spray painted/brass/ceramic. They’re all over my house, and I just can’t can’t help myself.

I’m probably going to make some woodland creature art too. It’s an addiction.

Wait, your collection won’t be complete without a chalkboard skull. You got to take a look at it because it is nice decorative piece as well. You’ll find a picture here if you are interested: http://mkhs.co/blog-chalkboard-skull

Let me know, what do you think?
