Tell me if this has ever happened to you.
You receive a gift, a well-intentioned gift. Let’s say it’s a piece of art. And you open it up and think “Wow. That’s a great piece of art. Now if only it matched my house.” This is also why I never give art as a gift but I digress.
Small appliances are very much like a piece of art that you would hang on your wall. Not every appliance is going to have the same fit and feel for your own home. Your microwave, your toaster or anything on display that sits on your counter top should compliment your design space. It’s like having a kitchen full of beautiful rich dark wood cabinets and then this out of place white coffee maker.
Yes those coffee makers. Those are probably the one of the biggest impact small appliances that you have to make a decision on. And one of the first things I did when Saeco contacted me to collaborate with them was go to found out what their GranBaristo machine looked like.
This is because having seen Espresso machines before, I was thinking there is no way one of those was going to fit on our counter. You go to coffee shops. You know exactly what I mean. They’re huge and clunky and space hogging with those awkward handles sticking out of them. I did not want a counter hogging machine in this kitchen.
The Saeco GranBaristo however is anything but. And it still delivers the coffee that you would expect from a big espresso machine.
It is clean, compact, elegant and space saving.
This is how space saving next to our fridge.
Easy to access to fill up with water. It’s not heavy so I can easily slide it forward to pour water in and push it back.
It comes in two designs as well.
One, ours above, is the stainless steel model which compliments the minimal Scandinavian feel of our kitchen and the other a more traditional yet modern look with a pinstriped front.
Which now looking at that photo is making me consider how that model would look like if we went with black kitchen cabinets in our next kitchen reno. That’s right, I said black cabinets. I’ve got a white kitchen out of my system maybe it’s time to try something different.
We’re moving in 2 weeks, new kitchen to come hopefully next year. I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, I’ll be drinking lots of Cappuccino’s out of this.
Disclosure: I was generously provided a Saeco GranBaristo to review for this post. As always, opinions and photos are my own.
