Vintage Disney Book

So how’s this for a vintage Disney find at our local Salvation Army?

Fifty cents got me Walt Disney’s Giant Story Book published by Purnell (1969). It’s far less about whether or not this is worth anything financially than how it took me back in time in the middle of a dusty thrift store.

Especially when I opened the book and the page I happened to open it to, was this vintage Cinderella drawing.

I had completely forgotten about these particular drawings of Cinderella in the Disney fairy tale books as they have obviously changed her since then. I had read and listened to these and so many others as a child on my read along book and record player.

It is absolutely full of classic Disney drawings in just about every fairy tale.

vintage bambi

vintage alice in wonderland - disney

And to think I wouldn’t have even found it if my kids hadn’t made a beeline for the book section. All because my older daughter saw a Hannah Montana book on the shelf from across the room.

So Thank you Miley Cyrus. Ironically also by Disney.

Wow! I’ve never seen that version of Cinderella! All the other ladies look more or less the same, but she’s really different!

Sure your girls will be wanting Maleificent’s (I should go google how to spell that correctly… but really cannot be bothered at this point to attend to such details) fancy headdress to complement the evil queen outfit from last year!!

Oh lady apparently the 5 minutes of considering being Dorothy has morphed to The Queen of Hearts and Alice in Wonderland. I told them they don’t have to do a theme but I was vetoed.

Oh how fun! I can almost smell it! HA HA! I love how old books smell, ya know? Seriously great find. I think there will come a time when we really miss books… REAL books. Glad you snatched these classics up! My favorite has always been Bambi. Still makes me cry. 🙂

I already miss books. Hardcover. The smell of old paper. The sexy mysteriousness of a big room filled with books.

    Ha ha. Good ole Miley.

What a treasure! I love how Cinderella and Snow White’s eyes look identical…and lash-i-licious.

This post makes me want to dig through some of the books of my youth next time I visit my folks in New York and take a walk down memory lane. #nostalgia

Love finds like this! I have a vintage Pinnochio puzzle (with all the pieces if you can imagine) from the 1940s. I’ve got it tucked away to give to my girls someday. Great find!

Oh wow! My family loves anything Disney and this book reminds me of books I had when I was a child. Sadly we ripped them up or threw them out so the characters and books my children have look a lot different that this one. Great find!

If I ever come across another I’ll pick it up and message you. I’m at thrift stores a lot so it’s no problem at all.
