I am an old school memo and list maker. I have never gotten to a point where I prefer typing notes in my iPhone and even when I had the ease of the keyboard on my now defunct Blackberry. All my to do lists, groceries and notes are all written on paper. I find it easier and I love the texture of a good cardstock (which is probably why I enjoy making cards).
In which case, I’d like to give a very overdue Thank You to Sandy from urban rustic. Her blog is a wonderful gem of a vintage finds, collections and crafts. We both worked in television and both have way too much retro and second hand finds hanging around our homes. I was recently the lucky recipient of a giveaway she did of this gorgeous journal with a quote on the cover by Henry David Thoreau.
This is why I love the blogging community. You get a chance to virtually meet people that you never would have crossed paths with in real life, if only for geography or otherwise (she’s in Down Under while I am over in the Great White North). Sandy asked her readers to give up their “favourite not-so-Hallmark words of wisdom” and I won her over with one of my favourites by Edgar Allan Poe -“I became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity”. I actually have that on a key chain I wore for years after my old boss brought it back from Baltimore, Maryland after doing a story on him.
But my favourite thing about the package was this simple note she wrote on her card. Totally made me smile.
It just goes to show you, that while we all live in different parts of the world, some things speak a universal language. Like crafting, card making and the never ending euphoria of thrift store shopping.
So Thank You again Sandy! My daughter already tried to confiscate it and I said nope. This one is staying with me.
